Your Rights Online: USPTO Lets Amazon Patent the "Social Networking System"

간단히 말해서 아마존이 페이스북같은 SNS에 대한 특허를 냈다는 이야기. 

소프트웨어 특허(software patent)는 정말 미친 짓이다. 

 The idea that I can be presented with a problem, set out to logically solve it with the tools at hand, and wind up with a program that could not be legally used because someone else followed the same logical steps some years ago and filed for a patent on it is horrifying.

존 카멕이 했던 말이다. 크누스 아저씨도 소프트웨어 특허를 비난하는 편지를 쓴바가 있다.  

아마존 같은 기업의 입장에서는 특허를 사냥하는 기업(patent-troll)을 대항하는 입장에서라도 이러한 특허 등록은 계속될 것이다.
